The Donnafugata 2021 Sicilia Nero d’Avola Sherazade offers a fresh, mid-weight style with an abundance of cherry and purple fruits. Nero d’Avola reflects a sense of place, and don’t be surprised if you pick up aromas of roasted Sicilian eggplant or toasted fennel seeds. This is an entry-level red made without oak, but it makes a fine partner to Italian take-out dinners or pizza. Actually, pair it with a Sicilian caponata. This is a big but well-priced production of 160,000 bottles.
